AMD’s $5 Billion Move to Challenge Nvidia in AI
AMD has agreed to buy ZT Systems, a data center equipment maker, for nearly $5 billion.
This move strengthens AMD’s position against Nvidia in the AI hardware market.
ZT Systems designs and builds servers and infrastructure for AI data centers.
AMD plans to sell ZT's manufacturing business but will keep its design operations to help customers build AI training clusters.
This acquisition is one of AMD's largest, following its recent purchases of Xilinx and Pensando Systems.
