China's Auto Market Crisis: EV Makers Take Longer to Pay Bills

Credits: Nio

China’s electric vehicle makers, including Nio and Xpeng, are significantly delaying payments to suppliers, highlighting growing financial stress.

Nio's payment period increased to 295 days in 2023 from 197 in 2021, and Xpeng's to 221 days from 179.

Smaller suppliers are particularly impacted, risking bankruptcy.

This could disrupt the entire EV industry - with over 26% being EV market share.
