Google’s Code: 25% Now AI-Generated

Google now generates over 25% of its new code using AI, as shared by CEO Sundar Pichai in the Q3 2024 earnings call.

The company posted $88.3 billion in revenue, with Google Services and Cloud seeing strong growth, partly thanks to AI.

New tools like AI chatbots, note-taking in Google Meet, and YouTube AI features are expanding its offerings.

However, Google faces antitrust issues in the U.S., with potential challenges to its search and ad dominance.

GitHub Adds Google & Anthropic AI Models to Copilot

Microsoft’s GitHub has partnered with Google and Anthropic to bring their AI models, Gemini and Claude 3.5, into GitHub’s AI-powered Copilot coding assistant.

These models will first be available for chat and Q&A functions and will later be fully integrated into Copilot’s main code-writing features.

GitHub, which was one of the first to use generative AI to simplify coding, will keep OpenAI models as the default but give developers the option to switch to Google and Anthropic models.

GitHub announced a new project called “Spark,” which lets users build simple applications with plain-English prompts instead of code.

This tool aims to make app creation easier for beginners, while experienced developers can use it to test ideas quickly.

Spark allows users to create tools like travel logs or event trackers and provides flexibility to adjust code as needed.
