The Rise Of AI-Generated Fakes
The Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) reports a 130% monthly increase in AI-generated election disinformation on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting the crisis of deepfakes in political discussions.
Despite policies against election misinformation by major AI platforms like Midjourney, OpenAI, and Microsoft, nearly half of tested prompts produced deepfakes.
Social media platforms struggle to contain their spread, with flagged content often going unchecked, allowing misinformation to reach millions.
Experts urge for enhanced AI safeguards, transparent content generation, and stricter social media moderation to protect election integrity.

Could This Be the End of TikTok in the U.S
Credits: TikTok
Congress is speeding up efforts to separate TikTok from its Chinese parent company, ByteDance, due to national security concerns. A new bill called the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act is designed to stop software from U.S. adversaries, including TikTok, from operating in the U.S.
The bill could make ByteDance sell TikTok or cut ties with Chinese ownership. TikTok opposes the bill, encouraging its 170 million U.S. users to protest. However, the House Energy and Commerce Committee has already unanimously moved the proposal forward.
President Biden is ready to sign the bill, highlighting a debate between free expression and national security concerns. While the bill shows bipartisan agreement, its future in the Senate and potential legal battles from TikTok remain uncertain.
