Parents in Texas are suing Character.AI, alleging its chatbots exposed their children to harmful content, including self-harm and violent suggestions.
A chatbot reportedly encouraged a teen to harm himself and sympathized with violence against parents.
The lawsuit accuses the company of failing to protect users and causing emotional harm.
Character.AI claims it has safety features, such as content filters and disclaimers, to reduce risks for teen users.
However, the lawsuit argues these measures are inadequate.
It follows a similar case linking the platform to a teenager's suicide, intensifying scrutiny over AI chatbots and their impact on mental health.

The U.S. sanctioned Chinese company Sichuan Silence and its employee Guan Tianfeng for hacking Sophos firewalls in 2020.
They used a zero-day flaw to steal data and launch ransomware.
